I ASKED FOR WONDER

Wow!  I was wonderfully challenged by some of the writings of Abraham Joshua Heschel especially during this Christmas season as we ponder the gift of Jesus Christ.
Abraham is considered by many to be one of the most significant Jewish theologians
of the 20th century.  He writes…

“Our goal should be to live life in radical amazement. ...
Get up in the morning and look at the world in a way that takes nothing for granted.
Everything is phenomenal; everything is incredible; never treat life casually.
To be spiritual is to be amazed.”

Wonder, or radical amazement, is a way of going beyond what is given in thing and thought, refusing to take anything for granted, to regard anything as final.
It is our honest response to the grandeur and mystery of reality our confrontation with that which transcends the given.

To be spiritual is to be amazed

What are you asking GOD for?
The Apostle Paul prayed to Know Him.  The Psalmist declared to Always keep The Lord before him.
Mary said, “all things are possible to those who believe.”
Jesus exhorted Martha, if she would believe she would see His glory.

As believers can we truly be pleasing to GOD without wonder in our journey?

Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared
for those who love Him.  1 Cor. 2:9

“Never once in my life did I ask God for success or wisdom or power or fame.
I asked for wonder, and he gave it to me.”

This Year I’m asking for WONDER!
